BRAHMOTSAVAM

Planning to visit but need one of the best times?

Brahmostsavam is the most glittering and colorful of all Utsavams. The Brahmotsavam is celebrated over a period of 13 days in the month of March / April (Tamil month – Panguni) every year. The Lord is taken around the village in a colorful procession both in the morning and evening on various vahanams during Brahmotsavam accompanied by scholars reciting Vedam and Prabhandham.

Some of the Vahanams that are most popular are the Garuda Vahanam, Shesha Vahanam, Hanumantha Vahanam, and Gaja Vahanam. Garudotsavam on the fifth day and the Rathotsavam on the eighth day are important days during Brahmotsavam.

VAIKUNTHA EKADASHI

Generally, Vaikunta Ekadashi falls in the month of December-January every year. It is said that lord Brahma, Indra, Rudra and others visit Sri Vaikuntam on this day to have darshan of Lord Vishnu seated on Garuda Alwar.
Vishwaksenar, also known as Senai Mudalavar opens the Swarga Vashal and allows devotees to enter Sri Vaikuntam and have darshan of Lord Vishnu. Having darshan of Lord Vishnu and Vishwaksenar together at the Swarga vashal is considered very sacred.

Vaikuntha ekadashi is one of our temple specials! If you visit during this time, we guarantee you'll enjoy this utsavam. On this day there will be close to 10,000-15,000+ devotees visit the temple to worship swamy mounted on lord garuda, in front of Vaikuntha Dhwaram (utthara vashal, a dedicated door facing north ) which will be opened only once a year on this day. The moolavar (The main deity with Sreedevi, Bhoodevi, and also Padmavathi thayar ) is adorned with Vajra Kavacham only on this day, which looks absolutely magnificent.

PAVITROTHSAVAM

Essentially this is a festival of purification; Agama Shastra says that if there are any Dosha’s in the recitation of Mantra’s or performance of Kriya’s or Dravya’s used in the temple, Pavithrothsavam brings Shanthi and weeds out the ill’s flowing out of all such known or unknown acts of commission and omission. This festival is elaborately performed in the month of September / October for four days every year. During Pavithrotsavam, the deities and all parts of the temple are adorned with Pavithrams. Homas are performed and Vedic mantras recited. The atmosphere in the temple is charged with religious fervor.

2022 KUMBHABHISHEKHAM

As per agama shastra, Kumbhabhishekham and samprokshana shall be conducted every 12 years. After a lapse of 58 years, in the year 1998 and in 2010 Kumbhabhishekham and samprokshana was conducted at the temple. Now it is proposed by the executive committee of " KARUMBATTI SRI PADMAVATHI SRINIVASA SWAMY SEVA SAMITHI (R)" to conduct kumbhabhishekham and samprokshana during the year 2022. This program consists of three stages. First palalayam (Kalakarshanam) is done. This is done to transfer the energy stored in various moorthies, raja gopuram, dhwaja sthambam and vimana gopurams to kumbham or chitrapatam. Only after this palalayam others can enter sanctum sanctorum.

Second is to renovate the raja gopuram, vimana gopurams, repair of sanctum sanctorum and any other renovation work at the temple will be done.

Third one is samprokshanam, Kumbhabhishekham, here's what it is  -Kumbhabhishekham, also known as Samprokshanam is a Hindu temple ritual that is believed to homogenize, synergize and transfer the energy back to moorthies gopuram etc thus unite the mystic powers of the deity. This is also known as prana prathista. Kumbha means the Head and denotes the Shikhara or Crown of the Temple (usually in the rajagopuram) and abhisekham or prokshanam is a ritual of bathing. Generally water from various punya nadis(Rivers) in our country will be brought and after vedic purification, it is used for prokshanam.

Based on our above appeal we received an overwhelming response from devotees of our Karumbatti Sri Padmavathi sametha Srinivasa swamy . With the generous donations received we were able to complete the renovation work within the temple and performed the samprokshana and kumbhabhishekham events in a grand scale we thank one and all for their unstinted support. You are requested to see the uploaded photos of samprokshana on the "Samprokshana photos" page.
